Christmas Tree Sticker Ornament Activity

December is the time for everything Christmas and Winter themed in my house! There is just something about this month that brings a smile to my face. Although I don’t prefer the weather (except for the first snow fall, I LOVE that!) I can’t help but feel joyful. Two things I love to do when I’m happy (besides spend time with my kiddos, of course!): Bake cookies and craft! Luckily my littles love both of those things as well! We are saving the baking for a little closer to Christmas, so crafting it is! With Christmas music in the background my sweeties got busy with this awesome Christmas Activity.

This Christmas Tree Sticker Ornament Activity was pure magic! My kids were completely engaged in every aspect of creating their ornaments and decorating their trees. Try this Christmas Activity out and you won’t be sorry! The round sticker labels make it virtually mess-free AND create beautiful ornaments in the end! Let’s break it down:

Christmas activity set up

To get this activity set up, you need to decide how large you would like your tree to be. Now, cut your paper to its desired length and lay it flat.

Make your best attempt at drawing a Christmas Tree on it. If you are not confident in your ability to create a tree, try making a large triangle and adding a trunk at the bottom. It will still be amazing to your sweet kiddos! That is one of the things that I loved about teaching Kindergarten. It didn’t matter how bad my artwork was, they always thought what I could draw was incredible! A definite self-esteem booster!

Once your tree is drawn, lay out the round sticker labels, markers, and paint dotters and invite your sweeties to create ornaments!

Make the Ornaments

I modeled a few ornaments to show my kiddos the different possibilities. In the end, they still decided to color them in all the way though (haha)!

Now sit back and watch as they use the dotters and markers to decorate their ornaments. The beautiful thing about the round sticker labels is that you don’t have to worry about your kiddos staying in the lines of each ornament. If they color the entire sheet (which my kiddos may or may not have done) the round labels will still peel off cleanly and look great on the tree. If your cuties decide to use the dotters, be sure to let their ornaments dry before moving onto the next step.

Decorate the Tree

Here comes the fun part: Fine Motor Practice! Have your kiddos peel each ornament off and stick it onto the tree that you have created for them. This step took my kids a while and was great fine motor work for their sweet little fingers! My 2 year old had some trouble getting the stickers off at first, but was rocking and rolling by the end!

It was so fun to see how my sweeties each decorated their trees. My 4 year old grouped all of the ornaments by color, but my 2 year old randomly put the ornaments all over his tree. And the best part? They both turned out super cute!

If your kids are still wanting to decorate after they finish the ornaments, they can color the trunk or even the tree! They could also create a scene behind the tree or make some presents. So many possibilities here!

Enjoy!

The highlights of this Christmas Activity? Using the round sticker labels make it virtually mess-free and keep the trees looking adorable in the end! It also kept them super engaged since there were different steps with the coloring and decorating. This will definitely be a new Christmas tradition! What activities do you do every Christmas?
