Easy Outdoor Alphabet Hide and Seek for Kids

We have entered the outdoor season up north, and I am loving it! I want to be outside every chance that I can get, and that includes when we are learning. Anytime I can bring an activity outside, I will absolutely do it!

This Alphabet Hide and Seek game is a fun way to practice the alphabet and get some energy out while doing it. It’s as easy as set up and go! Let me break it down:

Materials

How To

This is probably one of the easiest activities to set up. Here is what you do:

  1. Bring the puzzle outside
  2. Have your child close their eyes and count (or just close their eyes, either way works!)
  3. Spread the puzzle pieces around your yard or patio
  4. Ready, Set, Go Hunt!

I chose to keep the pieces on the patio so I could monitor where they were more closely and so we didn’t lose any in the grass! You can do whatever works for you, though.

My kiddo loved racing around the patio collecting letters. And even though he doesn’t know all of their names yet, he knows the pictures and where each piece belongs. And those are the first steps!

And after he was done hunting for all of the letters, he told me to close my eyes and then he hid the pieces for me to find! Obviously, observe your kiddo through cracked fingers so you can make sure no pieces go missing. It would have been just my luck for him to stick one through the fence and for us never to find it again!

This is such a fun way to welcome warmer weather while playing and learning. And, what a fun way to practice the alphabet this summer before Preschool or Kindergarten next year!

Enjoy!
