Valentine’s Day Heart Animal Craft for Kids

With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, we are getting in the spirit over here! My kids are already discussing what types of valentines they will bring to school, but I’m more focused on the home front. What will we create to display in our home and to mail to our loved ones?

We have already made and sent this long time favorite, as well as these simply DIY gifts. This year, I wanted to do something fun, but still adorable!

Anyone who has been around here for a while probably knows that we are an animal family. My boys are all about the animals. Ask my oldest about any animal (current or extinct) and he probably has a few facts for you. Since big brother is so into them, the others have followed suit, and all have their own favorites and knowledge.

With that in mind, I decided to add a little love to our animal obsession and create some artwork to display and share!

Valentine’s Heart Animals

These cute little creatures are fun and will bring out your child’s creativity. Cut up some hearts in various sizes and let them mix and match to create a little love animal of their own!

Materials

Here is what you will need for this project:

How To

  1. Cut out hearts in various sizes. To do this most effectively, I fold my paper in half and cut out a half heart shape along the inside fold line. When I open it up, it makes a full (symmetrical) heart.
  2. Be sure to make large, medium, and small hearts in various colors.
  3. Have photos of the animals that you want to recreate. Pull up this post for inspiration!
  4. Bring the kids over, pull out the glue sticks, and start creating your own love animals!

Love Animals

This Valentine’s Day craft is truly very simply. All your kids need are some hearts, a glue stick, and photos for inspiration. Let them get creative by mixing and matching colors and maybe imagining a creature of their own!
