Kid’s Fall Secret Painting

One of my favorite things about Fall is all of the colors. There is something so magical about a forest full of reds, oranges, and yellows. Even though the weather cools down and the days get shorter, the beautiful colors make this my favorite season of all!

As we move into cooler weather, it is also a transition to more indoor play for my littles. Naturally, this usually means more fine motor and art play activities. One of my kiddo’s favorite materials to play with is paint.

However, Mommy is not always a fan of the full on kid’s paint projects that usually create quite a mess! So, when my kiddos want to paint, but I don’t want to clean up the mess, we pull out the watercolors. My kiddos still get the satisfaction of painting, and I have a much smaller mess to clean up (wink, wink).

That is where this fun activity comes in. It’s actually a play on this activity we used during quarantine. My littles enjoyed it so much that I just had to create a version for Fall!

How To

This craftivity could not be easier to set up! Simply, grab your materials and get started:

1. Using your white crayon, draw a Fall scene on the card stock. I chose to draw a large tree with falling leaves and a pumpkin. You can draw whatever you’d like!

2. Lay out the watercolors and a small water cup for your kiddo.

3. Invite your little to paint away and discover the secret picture!

Enjoy

My littles had so much fun with this activity! They got to discover their very own Fall picture and I got to sneak in some fine motor work. It also gave Mommy a much need break and some quiet time, wink, wink.

It is projects like these that always entertain and provide the enrichment that I love in an activity.

So, grab your paint and get this set up for your kiddos pronto!
